Welcome
Fishers Youth Assistance Program (FYAP) provides professional, family-centered casework and referral services to students (ages 3 to 17) and families who reside within the Hamilton Southeastern School District. Casework services to our families are completely confidential. Kids and families are often referred to our services by the schools, police, court officials and parents with concerns about their child.
FYAP works in collaboration with the Hamilton Southeastern School District, the City of Fishers, and the Hamilton County Superior Court. FYAP is one of six offices serving students and their families in Hamilton County, Indiana.
Our Services
Family Education
Provides caregivers access to a variety of no-cost programs from or in collaboration with community professionals that facilitate family growth and development, including workshops, guest speakers and parenting classes.
Summer Meals Program
Serves between 600 to 700 students, who need a source of food during the summer months. FYAP works with partner organizations to identify families who need assistance and also with volunteers to prepare and deliver meals. In 2019, the program served more than 55,000 meals to 650 children in our community.
Tutoring
FYAP works with the HSE Faculty and Staff pool of professionals to ensure students have access to the academic support they need to be successful. Tutoring varies on a case-by-case basis and is presently only offered for active FYAP clients or those recommended from HSE Schools. Tutors are contracted to meet with a student once a week for 45-60 minutes. Tutoring occurs before and after school as set up by both tutor and family availability. If you’re interested in becoming a tutor, click the “Become of Tutor” button below.
Mentoring
Provided by trusted local FYAP partners, including Youth Mentoring Initiative, and are selected based on the unique needs of each child and the personal challenges they are facing. We work with the parents/caregivers to select the mentor program that will provide the most benefit to the child in providing companionship and adult role modeling.
Food, Clothing, & Financial Assistance
Offered through coordination with our Township Trustee offices, church and community organizations, and local/state community agencies.
Counseling & Other Mental Health Resources
Provided for students through local partnerships with counselors, licensed mental health practitioners, physicians and other community-based resources.
Camps & Recreation
Available to students working with the Fishers Youth Assistance Program who can benefit from a positive recreational experience. FYAP works with families and community organizations to provide scholarships when needed.
