Become an Anchor Tutor

Become A Tutor

A child's grades can have a huge impact on how they will succeed in life. Getting homework turned in and understanding basic subjects can completely change a child's future. That's why Fishers Youth Assistance provides the Anchor Tutoring Program. Adults age 18 and older are paired with a Fishers Youth Assistance client to work together.

What’s involved?

Only 1 hour a week…that's it! We are currently looking to train Anchors during the summer of 2020 to start providing services in the 2020-2021 school year.

Is Tutoring for you?

You don't have to be a mathematician or science wiz to help a child in need. Many times all they need is someone there beside them making sure they do the work and stay on track. We offer training, support, supplies and a great 1:1 relationship with a youth in your community.

How do you get started?

To get started, you'll need to complete an Anchor Application, background and, if applicable driving check, and followed by a personal interview. If interested please email Trisha Straus at trisha.straus@hamiltoncounty.in.gov
